We will work in partnership with the Attleboro Youth Soccer (AYS) to rehabilitate the soccer fields at the Tilda B. Stone Playground in Dodgeville. We will do one this year and will do the other next year. The cost per field will be $49,000 but AYS will chip in $10,000 for the work.
Dennis Walsh said that the fields have been subjected to a great deal of wear and tear from continual use from April to November every year. That use coupled with a number of other factors including the soil composition and the fact that the irrigation system is too close to the surface to allow for mechanical aeration makes it a maintenance challenge.
We will replace the top soil and the irrigation lines, burying them deeper. The first field will need to be taken out of use for at least a year to allow the grass to establish itself.
